It is no secret that modern pop song lyrics can be a collaborative event. Sometimes, hits can be a product of many people, especially when more than $1 million of major records are mixed. Ariana Grande’s “7 Ring,” for example, worked with 10 trusted composers, including Ariana herself. And while it is a huge number in itself, one composer in particular attacked Ariana Grande. And he launched a full-fledged lawsuit against Ariana as reported by TMZ.
According to reports, composer Josh Stone claims Ari used lyrics similar to melodies such as his song “You Need It, I Got It,” especially the chorus. Saying that “7 rings” and his songs were the same, Tommy Brown, who co-participated in producing “7 Rings,” attended a meeting with senior executives of the Universal Music Group, when Josh Stone played his songs, including “You Need I Got It.”
Stone wants to distribute the proceeds of Ari’s “7 Rings” and insists the song should be scrapped altogether. If all his arguments are true, it would be a bad start for Ariana Grande.
